I started my career as a leadership coach in 1997 but after a while, a pattern emerged: my executive clients were asking me to help them with their relationships.

I had to confront my own fears of failure, of rejection, of divorce, of mediocrity, of conflict, of others’ envy, and more.

Yes, he has grown. But my trying to make him show up for the relationship I wanted never worked. Doing MY work magnetized him to rise as the king I always knew he was.

We have recovered together. Cried and healed and learned to hold our shape and tell the truth and tolerate discomfort and listen and stay.

And now? I have that soul-deep love and aliveness I always craved. I still get angry, scared, tired, and sad. But I've learned to let my body, rather than my all-too-sharp mind, lead me through those moments.

I tend to my vulnerable and scrappy parts, rather than letting them hijack me.
